How many Constitutional amendment have been repealed?
Only one Constitutional amendment has ever been repealed.
Only one Constitutional amendment has ever been repealed in the history of the United States. The 18th Amendment, which established the prohibition of alcohol in 1920, was later repealed by the 21st Amendment in 1933.
The 18th Amendment had made the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcoholic beverages illegal, but it led to widespread illegal production and smuggling, known as bootlegging. The growing unpopularity of Prohibition, combined with its failure to eliminate alcohol consumption, eventually resulted in its repeal, making the 21st Amendment the only one to overturn a previous amendment.
