Which two countries share the longest border in the world?
This border is more over than twice as long as the US border with Mexico…
The US & Canada share the longest border in the world.
Stretching 5,525 miles long, the US and Canada border is more than twice as long as our border with Mexico! To put the length of the border into a different perspective it is 97,240 football fields long!

Given the long history of peace between the two nations, it is also the longest unprotected border in the world.
The border does have an unusual feature called the no-touch zone. It consists of a 20-foot cleared section across the entire border (10 feet on each side) that is also known as “the slash”. The purpose of this area is to let people know when they are approaching the border given that there is a ton of forest shared between the two countries. If you are hiking near the border and you come upon an out of place cleared out space that runs in both directions, now you won’t wander into the other country without knowing it.
