How many amendments are there in the United States Constitution?
Their are 27 Amendments to the Constitution.
The first ten amendments are what are known as the Bill of Rights. One of the original amendments that was proposed among the bill of rights had to do with representation in Congress. If that Amendment had been passed we would have around 6,000 members of the House of Representatives instead of the 435 that reside in that body today!
The most recent amendment to the Consitution, the 27th Amendment, occured in 1992. It requires that any change to what members of Congress are paid will start only after the next election in the House of Representatives.
