Sudan, not Egypt, holds the record for the most pyramids in the world.
While Egypt is famous for its massive and well-preserved pyramids, such as the Great Pyramid of Giza, Sudan's ancient Nubian civilization, particularly the Kingdom of Kush, built over 200 pyramids—far more than Egypt's approximately 120.
These pyramids, primarily located in regions like Meroë, Napata, and El Kurru, served as tombs for Kushite royalty and elites. Though smaller and steeper than their Egyptian counterparts, Sudanese pyramids reflect a strong influence from Egyptian architecture while maintaining distinct local characteristics.
